How we work with planting partners
What we ask for, what becomes public, and what never does — before you decide anything.

01What we do with a planting
Sapling Network funds tree planting and publishes the evidence for each planting as a record on the Solana blockchain. Each record states what was planted, where, when, by whom, and which documents back it up. Anyone can open the record and check it without asking us: published records · check one yourself.
Our first funded batch is an example of the whole chain: twelve mangroves funded through Tree-Nation, with the certificate referenced in the record and the record anchored on-chain — SAP-SPON-2026-09-05.
02What we ask you for
We ask for evidence of the planting, not for a partnership. What you can provide decides how the record is labelled, and we label it honestly either way:
| Label | What it means | Typical evidence |
|---|---|---|
| witnessed | Someone from Sapling Network, or you, recorded the planting at the site | Photographs with location and time, taken at the planting |
| documented | You confirm the planting and where it happened | A planting certificate, the planting site, species and date |
| allocated | The trees are paid for and assigned to a project | A donation or allocation certificate |
If you cannot provide batch-specific photographs, that is fine. We do not ask you to change how you work; we record what you can give us under the label that fits it.
03What we publish, and what we never publish
A record on a blockchain cannot be edited or removed. That is why it is useful, and it is also why we are careful about what goes into it:
- Anything you give us — photographs, documents, an exact location — is published only with your written permission, given before the record is made. Without it, the record carries only what is already public.
- Photographs showing identifiable people are not published without their consent.
- Location is published at the precision you agree to: an exact site, or only the region.
- Documents are referenced by a fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash). The hash proves a document existed without publishing the document itself.
04How we use your name
We describe your organisation only in terms of the work you actually performed: “planted by”, “funded through”. We do not describe you as a partner, sponsor or endorser unless you agree to that in writing, and we do not use your logo without permission.
05About the SAPN token
Sapling Network also has a token, SAPN, on Solana. You will see it on our website, so we are telling you first.
Today plantings are paid by the founder personally. Later, part of the money may come from the token: a share of its sale is set aside for planting (whitepaper Section 8.2). Either way, you receive an ordinary bank transfer or card payment, you are never asked to hold, accept or promote SAPN, and your name is never used in anything about the token, its price or its sale.
06Who pays, and how
Today the founder, Efe Kaan Açıkyıldız, funds plantings personally, by bank transfer or card. There is no company yet (whitepaper Section 16), so invoices and certificates are issued in his name.
Planting follows the season: trees funded in autumn go into the ground between November and March.
