The Sapling Network closed beta

01What this is

A closed test of the Sapling Network Android app with 25 testers for 21 days, run through Google Play's closed testing track. Everything happens on Solana's test network (devnet): test USDC and test transactions have no value. You never pay anything to take part.

In return for the testing work you do, you can earn SAPN, the Sapling Network token. SAPN is a reward for your effort, not a return on money: you do not buy anything to receive it.

02Who can take part

• 18 or older.
• An Android phone and a Google account (for the Play test track).
• A Solana wallet, Phantom or Solflare, for devnet and for receiving the reward.
• One person, one Google account, one wallet.
• To receive SAPN, a one-time identity check (see Identity check and payment). The check is not needed to test, only to be paid.
• Not available to residents of the United States, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or anyone on a sanctions list. Residents of Turkey can take part and receive this reward.

03How to apply

Apply on this website at sapling.network/apply, or with the Apply button in our Discord. Both reach the same team and are read by hand. If Discord is not available where you live, use the web form: if you are accepted, we write to you by e-mail with the Google Play link and everything you need, instead of the #beta channel.

Applying again replaces your earlier application.

04Install-only testers

Apart from the 25 places, we also welcome testers who only install the app from the Play test track and keep it for 14 days, which helps with Google's testing requirement. They join through the testing link we share for them, do no tasks, and need no wallet and no identity check. Install-only testers receive no SAPN and no trees.

An install-only tester who wants the rewards later applies like everyone else (see How to apply); the rules on this page then apply in full.

05How you earn — the main reward (up to 1,500 SAPN)

The main reward comes from doing the tasks and staying in the test. You do not need to find a bug to earn it.

Each task is paid once. Tasks are checked on the chain (orders, refunds, sessions) or by the team (questionnaire, language review). The 14-day task is what Google requires before the app can be published; it is the backbone of the beta.

06Trees planted in your name

Every tester who completes the 14 days in the test gets 5 real trees planted in their name. They are planted at a Sapling Network planting after the beta and recorded like every other planting, with a public record and a certificate for your wallet.

• These are trees we buy and plant. They are not a payment, have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money or tokens.
• Planting needs the season and the site to allow it; the record shows when and where they were planted.

07Bonus for problems found (pool of 12,500 SAPN)

A bonus on top of the main reward, not a condition for it.

• The first clear report of a problem is rewarded; duplicates are not.
• The team decides the level, and says why in #beta.
• Report security problems privately to info@sapling.network, not in the channel.
• When the pool runs out, bonuses stop. What is not used stays in the treasury.

08Rules

• Use the app as a real person would. Scripts, bots, several accounts or wallets for one person: you are out of the beta and earn nothing.
• Do not share the download link or the build outside #beta.
• Rewards are never given for ratings or reviews on Google Play or anywhere else. Rate the app honestly, or not at all.
• Be kind in #beta. The moderators can remove anyone who is not.

09Identity check and payment

• Before payment, a one-time identity check with Didit, an independent verification provider, on your phone: a photo of an identity document and a short live selfie. Didit also screens sanctions lists. It works for us as a processor; see Didit's verification privacy notice. You start it in the app (Community → Rewards), where your wallet signs a message first to show it is yours, or from a link we send you privately; either way it works only for your wallet.
• From the result we use only what our rules need: that you are 18 or older, the countries on your document and your connection, and whether you appear on a sanctions list. We use them once to decide and do not keep them. We do not download or keep a copy of your document or your selfie.
• As soon as the check is decided, the whole session is deleted at Didit — document photos, selfie, liveness recording and the data read from them. A check that is still in review is kept until it is decided.
• To keep to one person, one wallet, we keep two one-way fingerprints: one of your document number, and one of your name with your date of birth, so a second document of the same person is noticed too. They are salted hashes: neither can be turned back into the number, the name or the date. A match is looked at by the team; it is never decided by itself.
• The result goes on chain as an attestation for your wallet that says only which kinds of reward you may receive and until when (one year). No name, country or date of birth is written.
• SAPN is sent from the Sapling Network treasury (a 2-of-3 multisig) to that wallet within 30 days after the beta ends.
• The list of wallets and amounts paid is published for transparency.

10What SAPN is and is not

• SAPN is not listed on any exchange today and may never have a market price. We make no promise about its value.
• You are responsible for any tax in your country on what you receive.

11Your data

We keep your application (your Discord name, or the name you gave on the web form), your Google account e-mail (to add you to the test track and, if you applied on the web, to write to you), your wallet address, your task progress, the identity-check result and the two fingerprints. Your document and selfie are processed by Didit for us, with your consent, in its own flow, and deleted there once the check is decided; we never store them. Everything we keep, except the published reward list, is deleted within 90 days after payment. See the Privacy Policy.

12Changes and ending

We may change these terms or end the beta early; changes are announced in #beta. If we end it early, every task you completed is still paid. You can leave at any time; tasks completed before you leave are paid, except the 14-day task.
